Back to MBE Heterostructure for Wave Engineering

We have a long collaboration with the group of Joël Bellessa and Clémentine Symonds at iLM in Lyon on plasmonics. One of our main successes is around the investigation of Tamm-Plasmons which are 2D optical modes confined at the interface between a Bragg mirror (GaAs/AlAs) and a metallic layer (silver or gold). We have demonstrated that Tamm-Plasmons can be easily confined in the plane by patterning the metallic layer into microstructures with dimensions comparable with the light wavelenght. With the at C2N we demonstrated single photon emission from an InAs/GaAs quantum dot coupled to this localized mode. The people from Lyon also showed that lasing can be obtained from these localized states (see Figure).
